In the eighth and last episode of the youth series Kids of Courage (Der Krieg und Ich) the 14-year-old Eva arrives in death camp Auschwitz in the winter of 1944. There she hopes to find her friends of the children's choir, with whom she performed musicals in concentration camp Theresienstadt. But she only comes across Renata, the soprano, who is just a shadow of herself. Eva tries to keep her friend alive by giving music performances for SS guards.
