Generation of Change II

2015-2016

25 years after the fall of the Iron Curtain and the collapse of the Soviet Union all former Soviet States are still wrestling with their new found independence. Hasty democratic and economic reforms have led to social unrest and the rise of a small group of oligarchs in Russia and the Ukraine, who have bought political influence with their immense fortune. Meanwhile Belarus has returned under the guidance of "the last dictator of Europe" to the relative stability of a centrally planned economy, and a spontaneous popular revolt in Georgia marks the first in a series of "Color Revolutions". Generation of Change is a documentary in two 90-minute parts that shed more light on these dramatic events by means of archive footage and interviews with prominent politicians and those directly involved.

A real gem of historical cinema on a level, that is seldom reached on German television

The general despair, the unbelievable chaos after the collapse of the Soviet Union has never been depicted so well as here by director Maarten van der Duin

Moscows Imperium is a highly interesting documentary that could not be more relevant today
