In the sixth episode of the youth series Kids of Courage (Der Krieg und Ich) the 10-year-old Vera is being evacuated during the battle of Stalingrad in 1942 to an orphanage on the countryside of Kazakhstan. She feels lost among the other orphans, who are hoping to be adopted soon by foster parents, because Vera is convinced that her mother is still alive.
