Erich Mielke was one of the most feared politicians of the former East German Republic. A firm believer in communism, a political hardliner, a survival artist, who made it to head of the Ministry for State Security (Stasi) in 1957, which he would remain for over thirty years. Under his leadership the Stasi has grown into the most efficient and unscrupulous secret service in the world, that doesn't shy away from kidnap, compulsory hospitalisation and murder. This 90-minute docudrama exposes the life and character of a man responsible for East German security. Dramatised scenes show Erich Mielke at the height of his power in 1988 until his personal breakdown in prison after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
